MCAT Test Scoring - Other Factors that Medical Schools Consider

The MCAT test can be an extremely important exam for any individual that is pursuing a career in the medical field, as virtually every individual interested in entering a medical program within the United States will be required to submit his or her MCAT test scores at some point during the admissions process. However, it is important to realize that the MCAT test is not the only factor that the admissions board for each medical school will consider and there is instead a series of factors that most medical schools will take into consideration. In fact, an applicant's undergraduate and/or graduate GPA is usually considered almost equally as important as an individual's MCAT test scores in the admissions process. The individual's college transcript, specifically in regards to how closely related each course is to the medical field and how difficult each course is, the individual's experience working in a health-related field, and the individual's extracurricular or other activities that indicate leadership skills, are some of the other factors that medical schools will usually consider highly important. The admissions board for a particular medical school may also take letters of recommendation, the individual's place of residence, and the individual's college interview into consideration. The specific factors that a particular medical school will consider in their admissions process varies from school to school, but almost every school will take a variety of factors into consideration, so it may still be possible for an individual with an average MCAT test score to gain entrance to a medical school. As a result, it is essential to realize that the MCAT test is an important exam for anyone pursing a career in the medical field, but that an individual's performance on the exam will not necessarily guarantee that an individual will be accepted to a medical program or not.
