MCAT - Registration and Other Fees

In order to register for the MCAT, the individual applying to take the exam should schedule a testing date with Prometric online through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website. Anyone that is about to apply to a medical school or a school related to a health profession for the first time is eligible to take the exam, but individuals already enrolled in a medical program or individuals that are not planning on applying to a program related to the health profession in the near future must receive special permission from the AAMC in order to become eligible to take the exam.

The registration fee for the MCAT test is currently $210, but there may be additional fees associated with the exam as well. These fees include, but are not limited to, charges that the individual might incur if he or she needs to reschedule his or her testing date, or if the individual wants to take his or her exam at a different testing center. The rescheduling fee for the exam is currently $50 as long as there is still space available and the individual reschedules his or her testing date prior to the rescheduling deadline set by the AAMC for that particular exam date. The individual will not be able to reschedule his or her exam after the rescheduling deadline and will forfeit his or her registration fee if he or she cannot make it to the exam. If the individual decides that he or she needs to cancel his or her testing date, it is possible to receive a partial refund if the individual cancels his or her testing date at least 14 days prior to the original date that the exam was scheduled. The current amount that will be refunded if the individual cancels at least 14 days prior to the exam is $105, but the remaining $105 is non-refundable. If the individual cancels within 14 days of the exam, however, the individual will not receive any refund. If the individual would like to change his or her testing location, the individual must make his or her request prior to the rescheduling deadline set by the AAMC for that particular exam date and pay a location change fee of $50. As a result of these additional fees, it is possible that the exam may cost an individual more than $210 depending on the specific situation.
